| Boris Petrushansky`s highly original creativity and vivacious personality have earned him wide recognition as a
concert pianist. Born in 1949 in Moscow, he started his piano studies at the age of five,
supported by a strong musical family. Among his teachers was the eminent Heinrich Neuhaus.
After studying with Lev Naumov, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1975, having
already distinguished himself in several major international competitions, such as Leeds
in 1969, Munich in 1971, and Terni in 1975, where he won first prize.
Ever since the summer of 1975 when he gave two unforgettable recitals at the "Festival dei due Mondi" at Spoleto and the "Maggio Musicale Fiorentino" Festival (substituting Richter), Petrushansky has not looked back. His performances have taken him to Finland, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Czecoslovakia, USA, Hungary, Japan, Israel, Egypt, Mexico, Taiwan, Australia, etc. He has made various recordings with Melodia (Russia), Art & Electronics (Russia - U.S.A.), Symposium (U.K.), Fone, Agora and Dynamic (Italy). The artist has played with many orchestras, including: The Petersburg Philarmonic Orchestra, The State Symphony Orchestra of Russia, The Moscow Philarmonic, The Czech Philarmonic, The Berlin Staatskapelle, The Orchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, The "Maggio Musicale Fiorentino" Festival Orchestra, The Helsinki Philarmonic, The Moscow Chamber Orchestra, European Comunity Chamber Orchestra, The "New European Strings", The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, etc. He has played with many renowned conductors, such as J.Ferencik, E.Bour, V.Fedoseev, E.-P.Salonen, V.Gergiev, A.Lazarev, P.Bellugi, D.Kitaenko, S.Sondezkis, R. Abbado, M.Shostakovich, Lu Jia, V. Jurovsky and P.Kogan. His partners, to name but a few, have been the legendary Leonid Kogan, Igor Oistrach, Misha Maisky, Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Valeriy Afanassiev and Cecilia Gasdia. Boris Petrushansky serves as member of the jury of many international competitions such as "F.Busoni" (Bolzano), "D. B. Viotti" (Vercelli), "A.Casagrande" (Terni) etc. In addition to his concert life, Boris Petrushansky has an active teaching career: from 1975 to 1979 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory and now gives regular Masterclasses at the Royal Accademy of Dublin, the Purcell School of London, the Rowan University of U.S.A (New Jersey), and in many cities in Italy. He now resides in Italy where, since 1990 has held a position at the Accademia Pianistica "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola and, from 1992 at the Accademia Ducale in Genoa. |
Nel 1975 vince il Primo Premio al Concorso Internazionale di Terni. Nell'estate del 1975 si esibisce in due recitals al Festival dei due mondi e al Maggio musicale Fiorentino: da allora i suoi concerti lo hanno portato nelle più prestigiose sale da concerto in Europa, Stati Uniti, Giappone, Australia. Tra le molte orchestre con cui ha suonato, l'Orchestra Filarmonica di Leningrado, l'Orchestra Sinfonica di Stato dell'U.R.S.S., la Filarmonica di Mosca, la Filarmonica Ceca, la Staatskapelle di Berlino, l'Orchestra della Radio Nazionale Rumena, l'Accademia di Santa Cecilia, l'Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino e la Helsinki Philharmonic. Ha suonato con celebri direttori come Ferencik, Bour, Fedoseev, Lazarev, R. Abbado, Bellugi, Kitaenko, Shostakovic, Salonen, Gergiev e Kogan, ed è frequentemente invitato a suonare con orchestre da camera. Ha collaborato inoltre, nella sua attività cameristica, con artisti quali Leonid Kogan, Igor Oistraich, Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Valeri Afanassiev, Misha Maisky. Oltre all'attività concertistica Boris Petrushanski si dedica intensamente all'attività didattica e tiene regolarmente delle masterclasses. Attualmente risiede in Italia, dove dal 1990 è docente presso l'Accademia pianistica "lncontri col Maestro" di Imola e dal 1993 all'Accademia Ducale di Genova. |
